A very peculiar photographic book, from photographer Sanne de Wilde, is dedicated to Achromatopsia (color blindness), a disfunction for which the person cannot see, in full or in part, the colors. The book itself is UV-sensitive, changing colors in sunlight, so the viewer is continually asked to question their own certainty of sight.
The Island of the Colorblind investigates a Pacific atoll where an unusually high percentage of the population has total color blindness, due to genetic reasons. The case has already been subject of study many times, and when Sanne heard about such stories she decided to fly to the island to document the phenomenon and to photograph in black and white and infrared its people and landscapes.
