THE DYNAMICS OF DUST
Les Rencontres de la Photographie
Nouveau Prix Decouverte / New Discovery Award
3 July – 24 September / Atelier de la Mecanique, Arles France
Guest Curator: Lars Willumeit
Every summer since 1970, Rencontres d’Arles has been influential in disseminating the best of world photography, acting as a springboard for contemporary and creative talents. One of the most important photographic events in the world, more than100,000 visitors travelled to Arles in 2016. This year East Wing is proud to present Philippe Dudouit ‘The Dynamics of Dust’.
Founded on in-depth historic, geopolitical and cartographic documentation, research and analysis, ‘The Dynamics of Dust’ is a long term photographic study on the socio-political evolution of the Sahelo-Saharian zone since 2008. Dudouit documents the new relationships that historically nomadic indigenous Saharan inhabitants of the Sahelo-Saharian band have had to forge with a territory they can no longer pass through freely, or safely.
