Gret Palucca (1902-1993), was a German dancer and dance teacher. She was once a student of Mary Wigman, yet later became her rival. From 1925 onward, she founded three dance schools of her own. These were closed in 1939, however, because of her Jewish ancestry. In Europe, Palucca remains a legendary name in modern dance. Images provided by United Archives via photography.europeana.eu!
