PHOTOCONSORTIUM is proud to present a new photogallery, just published on Europeana Photography Thematic Collection, a unique resource about the best of the best of digitized vintage photography. It includes million records, virtual exhibitions, guided searches, blogs and focused galleries.
The new gallery is dedicated to Paris’ third World Fair, which marked France’s recovery after the Franco-Prussian War. Covering 270,000 m², it featured inventions such as Bell’s telephone, Edison’s phonograph and Mouchot’s solar powered engine. In the Trocadéro gardens, the head of the Statue of Liberty was on display.
The beautiful photos in the gallery are selected by PHOTOCONSORTIUM curator Sofie Taes and include records from Parisienne de Photographie, Ajuntament de Girona/CRDI, Rijksmuseum, Bibliothèque de l’INHA, Museon, all available via Europeana.
