From the curatorial effort of the EU project 1950s in Europe Kaleidoscope, every week on Friday there’s a new set of carefully selected photographs to be explored on the project’s website.

Today we present “Fifties photo studio”.

This small series of documentary – yet artful – pictures produced by Swedish photographer Nils-Erik Frigren, offer a peak behind the scene of a photography studio in the 1950s. In this masterfully composed series the different steps of picture production can be followed through portraits of people at work, that somehow have gained a ‘static’ and almost iconic quality. The images were contributed to Europeana.eu by Malmö museer (SE).
