Many of the videotapes from the local TV stations are already in an advanced state of degradation and can only be preserved by replacing original carriers with digital copies. The preservation of these documents requires, therefore, the effort and involvement of different sectors, especially public administrations, which play a key role. For this reason, the Permanent Observatory for Archives and Local Televisions made the Declaration for the Safeguarding and Promotion of the Audiovisual Archives of Local Television Stations.

This document was addressed to the main agents involved in audiovisual preservation in Catalonia and Andorra. The Centre for Image Research and Diffusion (CRDI) of Girona City Council, as a promoter of this initiative, has translated this document into English and Spanish.

Today 27 October, on the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage, CRDI wants to share it and the document is at: http://www.girona.cat/web/sgdap/docs/declaracio_arxius_audiovisuals-2015-DEF_ENG.pdf
