Bodleian Libraries digitized over 100 photographs by 19th-century photographer Julia Margaret Cameron, well-known for her experimental portraits whichplayed with early photography flaws such as soft focuses, scratches, and other distortions.

The photographs belong to the so-called Henry Taylor Album and in facts were compiled as a gift for dramatist Sir Henry Taylor. Although some of the British photographer’s work can appear a bit sentimental, her images have a dreamy softness that makes her portraits still compelling.

In the Europeana Photography thematic collection, PHOTOCONSORTIUM has dedicated a specific query to Julia Margaret Cameron showcasing other finest examples of her works.
